The Writing Program is committed to diversity in all its forms, including, but not limited to racial, ethnic, sexual, gender, religious, and ability diversity. We strongly believe that a diverse student body and faculty is crucial to facilitating productive intellectual and creative conversations across identities; shaping a forward-thinking citizenry; making liberal arts education relevant to our contemporary moment; and, ushering in a more egalitarian future.
The Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences supports underrepresented minority graduate and professional students through the K. Leroy Irvis Fellowship, which is designed to help recruit and retain such students and increase their presence in the professorate. Since the fall of 2014, the Writing Program has nominated one entering-MFA student for this fellowship each year.
