Kelly Chastain


Kelly Chastain is a fiction writer. Her work has appeared in The Burrow Press ReviewGravelSan Joaquin ReviewSilk Road Review, among others. Her work has been anthologized in Traveler’s Tales Best Travel Writing Volume 10, a notable essay in Best American Essays 2015, and has been nominated for Best of the Net. She has been awarded residencies at Milkwood International Writing Residency in Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic, Galerie Huit in Arles, France, and Studio Ginestrelle in Assisi, Italy. She was a William S. Dietrich fellow in fiction at the University of Pittsburgh in 2018-2019. 

Currently, she is working on a historical novel set in Austria and Hungary in 1832. The book explores the intricate dynamics between the past and present, secrets and lies, and what it is like to face impossible decisions. You can find her at
